More Important Than Caucusing

Tip Of The Day: Let’s build a better mousetrap! Eh, let’s not. Let’s build a better blog instead.

Tip For The Weekend: SLEEP. It’s free, it’s fabulous, and none of us can get enough of it. I’d whine about how little sleep I get, but then the mothers I know would yell at me. They get all, “you don’t know what it’s like to REALLY not sleep! I haven’t slept through the night in YEARS!” And I ask you, I want kids why?

Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal: Right now, as we speak, this blog is hosted by Blogger. Which is fine, if I don’t ever want to expand beyond the whole “online journal” concept. But I do. I’m dreaming big, folks.

I want a website that let’s me take Cheap Chick Headquarters and turn it into ‘The Cheap Chick Empire, Source Of All Frugal Knowledge.’ And to do that, I need to leave Blogger and head over to my own website.

First things first, I need to figure out what I want my website to do. So here is a list (LIST! ARGH!) of my ideas so far. Once you’ve finished reading them, skibble down to the Comments section and post what you would like to see on the new and improved Cheap But Not Easy. Just keep it clean. Once again, this is a family blog and I can’t have you freakin’ out the kiddies.

1. Keep one section for daily articles, like I have now.
2. Have a section for pictures. I would post pics of my great deals, great places to go, visual aids for being thrifty, and all that. I’d post your pics, too. As long as there’s no nudity. Those photos stay in my private collection.
3. Create a smaller section, somewhere at the top, for quick tips, info about sales, or new websites to check out. In short, a return of the Cheap Moment.
4. Have an archive of everything I’ve already written – one that is easy for readers to access. So you can go back and relive all your favorite Cheap Chick moments.
5. Keep the Comments sections and the link to my Gmail account.
6. Have a section where readers can instantly post their frugal ideas, shopping steals, or sales updates, so they aren’t buried in the Comments section.
7. Create link to coupons exclusive to The Cheap Chick. As in, “click here, print out the page, and receive x% off your next purchase of x.” Then I could offer you daily or weekly deals.
8. Lose Adsense by Google, and instead, sell ad space on my site. Wouldn’t you rather have an ad from Target, telling you what’s on sale that week, than the random ads I currently have?
9. Get paid for those ads, either for the space, or for the click-throughs. If I make money off this thing, I can spend more time on it. That means more info about how to be frugal, for you, the reader. BECAUSE IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU, THE READER. NOT ME. SERIOUSLY.
10. Have a spot for guest columnists, where other bloggers can sound off about living la vida thrifty.
11. And of course, keep my Links section. So you can hop over to other cheap and fabulous sites. AFTER you peruse my site FIRST.

Did I miss anything? If I did, please let me know by posting a comment or e-mailing me. Time is of the essence, though. I want to get the new site up and running by April Fool’s Day. I feel that is appropriate, don’t you?

I say hooray to re-inventing the wheel! Make it rounder! You go, girl!

Its true, though. I am a mother and I haven't slept well in awhile. HOWEVER. My kids are older and I am in that lull where they sleep through the night, but are not yet out at night, causing ME to not sleep through the night. So I am taking advantage of this precious time I have to sleep as much as possible. Storing it up, as it were, before my daughters date guys named "Knife" who have left high school because "its boring, man." These are my nightmares. Which, I guess, cause me to not sleep as well. Its a vicious cycle, really.

Oh, topic? I think all the ideas are swell. Just talk more about me. That's about it. Hee.

Awesome! Soon even more will learn from your wise teachings.

Sleep is great. It's my favorite thing to do in winter. In fact, if I could I'd just hibernate straight through it.

Can one really sleep when they are dead? Until then I will continue to walk my gorillas back to the zoo.

The new site, no doubt, will be excellent!

I think your idea of a website is exciting and I can't wait to see it. I read your blogs all the time.
