Party On, Wayne

Party on, Garth.

Tip Of The Day: In the words of Big Audio Dynamite, ‘It’s party time.” I have been requested to throw a party for my fellow MN bloggers, and FAR BE IT FROM ME to turn down an opportunity to ingest snacks and booze. Ahhh, my two favorite food groups.

Tip For Tomorrow: Sleep in. Seriously – if you are anything like me (and really, why would you be? But still.), you haven’t had a decent night’s sleep in about 2 weeks. So sleep in tomorrow. If the kids start pestering you, send them out to play in traffic with a box of rusty razor blades and bottle of vodka. They’ll be fine.

Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal: A while back, some of you fearless readers/bloggers suggested that we have a blog party. You know, a party for all the female (and male, if you know any) Minnesota bloggers that we collectively know. I think this is a smashing idea, as it allows us to meet outside of the blogosphere and be with the three-dimensional people.

Also, there will be snacks and drinks. Which just makes everything better.

Therefore, I have taken it upon myself to start the planning process for the party. Please keep in mind, any party of mine (just like any man of mine) must be both Cheap and Fabulous. So we WON’T be blowing our collective wad on a spendy bash. And really, who can afford to? As it is, it’s going to cost us all about $50 just to drive to the damn party site. Sheesh.

Here’s what I have in mind – and please feel free to offer up any additional or opposing opinions on what the party should be. I may even listen to you:
1. The bash would be for bloggers, predominately female, living in and around the TC. If you live/blog outside MN and want to attend, you are MORE than welcome. Anyone who would travel to party with me is AWESOME, and can sleep in my guest bed. First come, first served though.
2. You can invite your spouse if you must, but they may end up feeling left out.
3. This is a grown-up party, complete with drinking and bad behavior, so please – no kids.
4. We could have some short agenda or topic of discussion, but I envision this to be more like a book-club party where no one has bothered to actually read the book, and everyone has bothered to bring extra wine.

In order to get this party started (yes, let’s get it started in here, Black Eyed Peas), I have a list of question for you, the attendees. You can either answer them in the Comments section or shoot me an e-mail.

1. Would you actually want to attend such an event?
2. Do you plan on attending?
3. Do you want to keep it all female, or should we allow boys in?
4. When (approximately) should we do this thing?
5. Would you want a round-table discussion or agenda, or should it just be mingling/chatting/possibly a dance-off?
6. Should there be T-shirts commemorating the event? And, can they be sparkly?
7. Should we charge an attendance fee, or have everyone just bring a snack or bottle(s)?
8. Any suggestions on where you’d like the event to be held?

Well, that’s a start at least. I think this is a great idea for a party, and I’d love to meet you guys up close and in person. So, what do YOU think? Party on, or party not.

I would certainly attend such an event. Heck, I would help PLAN such an event. I don't know about inviting boys. Hmm.

And there should be a dance-off. Perhaps we could all sit around in a circle, say our name, our blog, what we have gained from blogging, our favorite color, and our shoe size. Then we could ut pictures of celebrities on our backs and have to guess what they are! (OR not.)

T-shirts would be nice, and I can certainly help with that. But no admission. Just bringing food and drinks. And doesn't someone have a party room somewhere? Or at some centrally located bar or bowling alley? Ooh! We could bowl and drink. Not the best shoes, though.

I think we should go somehwere with a wonderful happy hour and free apetizers because this blog is all about good deals. Let's have quality food on the cheap. Also, I read almost every day but have no blog so can I come as a fan?

1. Would you actually want to attend such an event? YES!
2. Do you plan on attending? IF IT ISNT IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS CUZ I'M STILL IN INDIANA
3. Do you want to keep it all female, or should we allow boys in? SPOUSES ARE NO FUN. SINGLE BOYS WOULD BE, THO. :) EH, I SAY LADIES-ONLY.
4. When (approximately) should we do this thing? I'D SAY TWO WEEKS OUT AT A MINIMUM. SHORTER NOTICE COULD MEAN PEOPLE ALREADY HAVE PLANS.
5. Would you want a round-table discussion or agenda, or should it just be mingling/chatting/possibly a dance-off? WHY CHOOSE JUST ONE? WE HAVE ALL NIGHT!
6. Should there be T-shirts commemorating the event? And, can they be sparkly? HMM... NOT SURE I LOVE THE TSHIRT IDEA BUT IF THE MAJORITY WANTS IT, OKAY. I THINK IT'S JUST ADDED COST, THO.
7. Should we charge an attendance fee, or have everyone just bring a snack or bottle(s)? EITHER EVERYONE BRING SOMETHING OR LET'S DO WHAT BLAINE GIRL SAID AND HAVE IT AT A FABULOUS HAPPY HOUR PLACE. TWO FER ONES ON DRINKS AND APPS ALWAYS ROCK!
8. Any suggestions on where you’d like the event to be held? I THINK BARS IN THE BURBS TEND TO COST LESS THAN BARS IN THE CITY (ST. PAUL, MPLS). I'D BE GAME FOR ANY SUBURB, WHATEVER IS MOST CONVENIENT FOR THE MAJORITY.

Oh, and you know what else? I want to say that whoever thought of this idea is fabulous! As much as I enjoy reading this blog as well as the others' comments, I'd love to be able to put names with faces!

I don't drive, so making it to a party would be a problem - but I love the idea of it! I would be willing to travel live via webcam or something.

Sorry I've been MIA Cheap Chick, been pretty busy lately! I'm glad they stopped bumping you on Ch. 9. I have a cheap tip - I went shopping yesterday at the mall here in St. Cloud, and they had a clearance sale at Bath & Body Works. Half the store was 50-75% off! It was madness. They also have a sale (although it's only up to 50% off) on their website.

I'm in! Give me at least a week's notice. No boys. Just mingling and chatting, keep it low key. I like the idea of going somewhere with a great happy hour, or doing something where we all bring a dish and/or beverage.

Aw, you have to show the boys some love!

I live in connecticut so won't be going, but I am hosting our own blogger meetup this Friday. I can't wait to meet these people in person...

I heart Wayne's World!

I would be up for a blog party. I like the suggestion of meeting up for a happy hour or bowling. Elsie's in NE Minneapolis is the best bowling alley in town and they have awesome food, too. T-shirts are always good.
