A Cheap Quickie For When You Feel Dirty

Well. That got your attention, didn’t it? You naughty little Chicklettes.

A Quick Tip To Get You Through The Weekend: You know those foaming hand soaps, like the one pictured above? I love them, because, umm, foam is FUN. It’s all foamy and stuff. So when my foam dispenser started to run out, I became Greatly Alarmed.

Okay, perhaps that is a slight exaggeration, but I DID get annoyed, because I had just bought the big refiller soap thing (see above, too). And you can’t refill the foamy soap dispensers with liquid soap (I didn’t think you could refill them AT ALL) – so now I had to go out and buy new dispenser for the kitchen. Which I was trying to avoid by buying the refill soap stuff in the first place. Argh.

Turns out, I was wrong! Yes, I was shocked, too. You CAN refill the foamy soap dispensers, AND – this is the good part – the foamy soap dispenser needs LESS SOAP from the refill bottle than the regular dispensers. Oh happy day.

Want to know why? Of course you do – the foamy soap dispensers need very thin, watery soap stuff to work, and not the viscous liquid like the regular dispensers.

So here’s what you do: screw off the pump top, fill the container ¼ of the way with liquid soap, fill the rest of the container ALMOST (but not quite) to the top with hot water, put the pump back on, shake it up (that’s why you want to leave some room at the top), and Voila! Foamy soap. Using only a fourth of the soap than the regular containers.

Honestly? This discovery MADE MY WEEK. I really need to get a life around here.

This also works with that Dawn pump stuff. I pour 2/3 into a water bottle and fill the rest with water. When I run out, I reill 1/3 of the way with the Dawn and the res with water! Makes it go a lot further.
